Social Buzz Pros: Favorites from this Week 11/16 | Social Buzz Pros
TGIF Social Buzz Followers! Here is our round up of the trending topics this week! Below are our top five stories for November 17th through November Friday 21st! Which one is your favorite?
She has acne, no makeup and a few extra pounds…meet “normal Barbie.” Nickolay Lamm, a graphic designer out of Pittsburgh, created the Lammily doll because he wanted to send a message that “reality can be beautiful.” After being frustrated with how unrealistic Barbie’s proportions are, last year, Lamm designed the original Lammily doll, scaled to measurements of the average 19-year-old woman. He wanted to make a doll that more closely resembled what women look like today, including scars, stretch marks, grass stains, and tattoos. Lamm said, “I feel that, right now, dolls are very ‘perfect’ looking, when, in real life, few of us have perfect skin.” So far, the Lammily doll has received praise! What are your thoughts on this new creation?
We can all admit that we’ve turned up the volume and sung in the car because we believed (or hoped) that nobody was watching. But, that’s not the case with this performance. What this woman thought was a regular day in the car with her husband, turned out to be the most gangster performance of her life. After nearly 40 seconds of singing Salt-N-Pepa’s “None of Your Business” perfectly, she realizes that she has been caught. Her husband posted it to YouTube writing “My wife is THE most beautiful human being I know and I absolutely adore the moments I get to watch her being herself.” How adorable!
Trickery at its Finest
This small German town has been known to have “marches” for far-right extremist, neo-Nazis, who are attracted to the town because Hitler’s deputy Rudolf Hess was once buried there. But this year, without the marchers’ knowledge, local businesses and residents sponsored the march, but put a twist on it! For every meter they walked, 10 Euros went to a program called EXIT Deutschland, which helps people escape extremist groups. The group raised 10,000 Euros for the anti-extremist organization and this year’s march was deemed Germany’s “most involuntary walkathon.”
Cool Patch Corn Maze
This could have been an a-maze-ing experience, but instead it had California residents calling the police. Cool Patch Corn Maze, is the largest corn maze in the world. At 63 acres, this labyrinth fooled dozens of attendees this year. One maze runner even claimed to have been stuck in the maze for four hours! The maze was recently mowed over as the season had ended. And the owner recommends that people take a map next year!
Let it Snow?
Buffalo, New York is no stranger to snow, but this lake effect has already brought five feet of snow and expecting two feet more! Officials said they have stopped using snowplows because, where would they put the snow? But, instead have been attempting to move snow, using hundreds of dump trucks. Many people are stuck inside the homes as the snow has reached hirer than their doors and unfortunately, they could remain there for a few more days. The 2014 Buffalo snow storm is bound to break records and they will definitely be having a white Christmas, since it will probably take seven feet of snow more than five weeks to melt.
EXTRA: Baby It's Cold Outside
Another story we couldn't help but mention is Michael Buble and Idina Menzel's rendition of "Baby it's Cold Outside." The duo teamed up to do this holiday classic with a younger twist. Two teens lip-synced to the singers’ voices while dancing around a hotel lobby. Some of the songs original lyrics were even edited to fit a younger audience. Make sure you watch the video and you will see Menzel and Bublé’s cameo appearance!
