Next Big Thing With Apple: A Car | Social Buzz Pros
Are the rumors true? Is Apple really attempting to build a car? Better yet, what kind of car?
The technology world is a buzz with the possibility of Apple developing a sleek operating system for a vehicle. The most believable rumor is that Apple is building an electric car to challenge Tesla. Nobody knows yet, and Apple has neither declined nor confirmed the rumor.
Is It Possible?
Of course it’s possible! We’ve sent people to the moon and back, so surely a company with as much money as Apple could build a car if they wanted to. But, the only question is, do they actually want to?
Cars are quickly becoming complex bodies of metal that happen to include artificial intelligence. Our vehicles are essentially giant computers with well-positioned hardware and software that bring together our digital ecosystem.
We know Tesla is leading the way on electric cars, and there has even been evidence of Google working on a self-driving car technology. Essentially, it seems that the shift to leading edge car technology is headed to Silicon Valley.
Mapping the Streets?
As it turns out, there has been an unmarked van loaded with cameras and sensors driving through San Francisco and Brooklyn. It turns out, California’s Department of Motor Vehicles has the one in San Fran registered and leased to Apple.
There was someone driving the car in both cases, but the sensors all over the vehicle suggest it was doing more than just Google-type street mapping.
What We Think
Apple may or may not be building a car. We know that if they are, it’s probably not going to be launched for a few years. Just think about it, Apple has enough issues with their phones, iPads and computer technology. Are they going to let us drive around cars that will crash into each other until they give us the newest update? We certainly hope not…
Either way, we can’t wait to see what’s in store from all the Silicone Valley-esque superstars.
